Local inventors get patent
02/26/04
A design patent has been issued for Webb's Leg Sling by the United States
Patent Office. The Webb Sling was invented by Wayne Urban, of Bedford
The Webb's Sling suspends a patient's foot two to three inches off the
ground. The elastic midsection allows the patient to lower the foot if
necessary, allowing patients to "stay off that foot" after surgery,
injury, or infections to legs, feet and ankles.
As the injury heals, the patient can adjust the Webb Sling to control
the amount of pressure on the foot as the patient returns to a normal
gait.
The Webb's Sling is being sold to hospitals, surgical centers, foot/ankle
clinics, medical supply stores and to podiatric, orthopedic and physical
therapy offices.
