After surgery, injury, or infection to the lower leg, foot or ankle,
you may be instructed to avoid putting weight on the affected limb —
“non-weight-bearing.” Complying with these orders is difficult,
particularly when wearing a cast or orthotic, and moving around on crutches
or a crutch alternative walker. Have you been looking for walking aids?
Now a new invention comes to the rescue!
Worn over the shoulder and around the foot and ankle, Webb's Leg Sling
suspends the foot several inches off the floor, eliminating the effort
and concentration needed to be compliant.
The mid-section bungee cord allows the foot to be lowered if necessary
and allows for gentle flexing of the knee. Exercising against the bungee
cord without all your body weight keep the blood flowing that helps speed
the healing process and reduces muscle atrophy.
As rehab progresses, adjustable shoulder straps work in conjunction with
the bungee cord to allow increasing amounts of pressure on the foot (called
“toe-touch” and “partial-weight-bearing”) until
the patient can walk normally.
